Wihlborgs and Herlev Municipality to collaborate on a new preschool

The new preschool (“daginstitution” in Danish) will be part of the lively business district in the Hørkær block, where several homes have been built in the last few years. Establishing the new preschool is in line with Wihlborgs’ ambition to create a dynamic and active city district.

“With the opening of the new preschool in Hørkær, we’re bringing new life to the area, and we’re pleased to meet the need for more preschool positions. Working closely with Herlev Municipality, we’ll be able to create a state-of-the-art preschool. It’s also a plus that we can use our existing buildings and rethink how we use the property and its surroundings,” says Søren Holm, CEO of Wihlborgs A/S.

“Wihlborgs already has a strong presence in Herlev and is helping to develop an attractive neighbourhood with a mix of homes and workplaces. Now we’re also building a much-needed preschool here. This will allow us to create positive synergy effects within our own organisation and for the local community,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.

Wihlborgs will be in charge of constructing the school, in close collaboration with the pedagogical staff. The goal is to create as positive a learning environment for children, and as good a working environment for the staff, as possible. The plan for the new preschool includes direct access to the school yard from several rooms. There will be capacity for nine groups of children, split into classes of younger children and older children.

Redevelopment of Hørkær 18, which is currently office space, began in early 2022. When the school is completed in 2023, the municipality will lease the premises from Wihlborgs.
