Wihlborgs continues to climb the global sustainability rankings

In the 2023 edition of the ESG assessment the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), Wihlborgs was once again ranked at the top and awarded five of a possible five stars.

With five out of a possible five stars and 93 out of a possible 100 points, Wihlborgs has improved even further since the 2022 assessment gaining two additional points. Wihlborgs ranks number six of all listed companies in Europe and number one in the diversified property category.

GRESB is a benchmarking tool that measures and evaluates sustainability efforts at property companies and property funds from an investor perspective. The number of participants continues to rise and in 2023, 2 084 companies from 75 countries took part. A high GRESB rating indicates a high-quality sustainable property company.

Wihlborgs has raised its rating from 72 percent in 2019 to 93 percent in 2023. Risk assessments, goals and interactions with tenants and society are a few areas where Wihlborgs scored maximum points. Sustainability certifications for Wihlborgs properties are also significantly better than the average for property companies in the GRESB evaluation.

“It is great to see the results being yielded by our hard work over the last few years on enhancing the efficiency of and environmentally certifying our properties, reducing our climate impact and strengthening our sustainability measuring and reporting. It is also pleasing to note that most of the industry is devoting more focus on sustainability activities. Through everyone trying their hardest, and by sharing innovation and experience, we can jointly make a substantial difference,” says Lisa Östling, ESG controller at Wihlborgs.

“GRESB measures our actual performance on a property level and the governance of our sustainability efforts, which makes it an important tool for stakeholders who want to evaluate us as well as clear confirmation to ourselves that we are on the right track. At Wihlborgs, we focus uncompromisingly on integrating sustainability throughout our business and on our initiatives being able to make a real difference, says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.
