Prominent restaurant profiles open “Varv” at Wihlborgs property in Malmö

Restaurang Varv will open in the middle of May and will offer breakfast, lunch and catering before later opening for dinner with a modern, European home-cooking style. The restaurant will also have its own bakery offering bread and pastries every weekday. To begin with, opening hours will be from 7.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday, to later be expanded into the evening and events during weekends to follow.

Benjamin van Stellingwerff’s most recent position was as restaurant manager at the award-winning Michelin restaurant Vyn in Österlen. Similarly to Gent Berisha, he has also worked for several years at the well-renowned restaurant Ruths.  

The restaurant will face Södra Varvsbassängen and form a hub for the fully developed Dockan – Västra Hamnen – Varvsstaden area, where a significant part of Malmö’s industrial history is preserved in parallel with the emergence of new, modern urban environments with a broad mix of activities. Three new bridges will shorten distances in the area, one of which, the Styrmansbron bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, was recently completed.

“This is a location that we are very happy to be in. We want people that work in the building and from elsewhere to be able to visit between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and coffee, or for a glass of wine or beer later in the day. We will also be able to accommodate up to 130 people for evening events such as weddings and birthday dinners. We will offer modern, European home cooking, with influences from Italy, France and of course Sweden,” says Benjamin van Stellingwerff.
